About
Michele Orr
Writer/Actress/Producer
Currently residing in Glendale, California, Michele is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has worked in the entertainment industry in Knoxville, Atlanta, and Los Angeles for over 25 years as an actress and in free-lance production in film and television. Passions include urgent environmental sustainability and changing the way we think about commerce (Amazon Herb Co. link), recycling pretty things (hence the jewelry site on Etsy!), spiritual evolution, and stories that entertain and enlighten the soul.
As an actress, she has most often been seen in commercials, but has worked in all areas of the profession. Michele is a member of FIND, the Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators, or SCBWI, and Chi Omega Fraternity, Pi Chapter, Knoxville, TN.
Michele’s first screenplay, a supernatural thriller entitled in gods we trust, was invited to the script division of the 1999 IFFM in New York and the 2000 Sundance Producer’s Conference. She attended the same conference again in 2002 with her second project, Swap ‘n Shop, a romantic comedy romp with a poetic soul. She was the location manager for fellow Tennessean Paul Harrill’s Gina, An Actress, Age 29, which won the 2001 Sundance Jury Prize for Short Filmmaking.
In 2002 Michele created a 12 minute short about a Ku Klux Klan rally in Newport, Tennessee, a rainy day in january, which screened at Valleyfest Film Festival in Knoxille, and The Nashville Independent Film Festival. In 2008, the short Stuffed premiered at the Valley Film Festival in Los Angeles, and was invited to screen at Sacramento Film Festival’s Holiday Horror Film Festival. Michele wrote, executive produced, and played the lead in the comedic, horror-spoof short, which can be seen on YouTube at the web address following the bio. The short film Man’s Best Friend is the latest project, which Michele wrote, produced, directed, and played the lead, is intended for the festival circuit.
Short stories for adults and children are also in the mix of writings, in addition to more screenplays in the percolation stage, and reality television concepts.
And then there’s Claudia! Michele had an epiphany in January of 2007 and began writing what she considered to be an urgent message for young minds—and old: the immediate importance of honoring Nature and taking care of our lovely planet, lest we suffer dire circumstances. There are oodles and oodles of adventures to come in future books.
